Blue Magic - Indigo, Shibori & Sashiko
April 6th & 7th, 10 am - 4pm. $195
Join us for a two day workshop exploring traditional ancient Japanese textile shape-resist dyeing techniques with natural indigo plant dyeing and folk embroidery with master textile designer, Seathra Bell. Indigo is a unique natural dye, it provides colour variation from a bright sky blue to a deep blue that is close to black. Inherent in these textile processes are the qualities of Shibumi (simplicity, naturalness, and imperfection).
Seathra Bell has a Master of Design in Textiles from Glasgow School of Art. Her current research involves the growing and wild harvesting and sustainability of colour from natural dye plants within the West Kootenay region, for her ecologically responsible fabrics for her textile creations.
